Ty France Keeps Being Affected By Miguel Cabrera

Ty France has had himself a solid season so far.

Aside from missing a little time due to a left elbow sprain, France is hitting well and proving to be a key piece in the Seattle Mariners‘ lineup.

He’s hitting .306 with 10 home runs and 45 RBI, while also posting a stellar .839 OPS.

However, France appears to have been snubbed, as he is not a part of the American League All-Star roster this year.

One Mariners insider on Twitter pointed out that this isn’t the first time he’s been robbed of something, citing Miguel Cabrera being named Co-Player of the Week with France back in May, and the fact that Cabrera was selected as an honorary All-Star this season.

France Robbed Of All-Star Selection

It’s not fair to blame Cabrera for any of this.

He was named Co-Player of the Week thanks to his 3,000th career hit.

But when it comes to Cabrera being named an honorary All-Star and France not being selected at all, it’s understandable to feel like some of this is coming at France’s expense.

Granted, Cabrera is having a pretty solid season, hitting .295 with three home runs and 31 RBI, but his OPS sits at just .689, well behind France.

It’s not that Cabrera doesn’t deserve a spot on the roster.

The new rule where players can be added as honorary selections is good for the game, but it seems to have robbed players like France a little bit.

France’s numbers are certainly All-Star worthy and it’s safe to say that he got the cold shoulder a little bit.

Of course, there is still a chance he could be added as a late addition, but for now, he isn’t there, and he really should be.
