NBA Rumors: Toronto Raptors Could Trade Gary Trent Jr.
Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

Gary Trent Jr. could be on the move.

Gary Trent Jr. is a solid 3 and D player who is currently on the Toronto Raptors. He has struggled with efficiency at times this year, but Gary Trent Jr. is currently averaging 16.9 PPG, 2.0 RPG, and 1.5 APG while shooting 33.3% from beyond the arc.

The Toronto Raptors are a team that is currently in a play-in tournament position in the Eastern Conference. Recently, Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report revealed that the Toronto Raptors could trade Gary Trent Jr. to make roster improvements ahead of this year's trade deadline.

The Raptors (13-13) could have the best package (without Barnes) to offer the Brooklyn Nets if Kevin Durant demanded a trade again. They could also make smaller deals to improve, probably around Gary Trent Jr.

"I don't think they want to keep Trent," one source said, suggesting he's the player they shop at the deadline. Trent is earning $17.5 million this season with an $18.8 million option for 2023-24.

There is no doubt that Gary Trent Jr. would be a solid acquisition for a number of contending teams. If he can get back to shooting well from the 3PT range, he'd be a good fit on any roster.

The Golden State Warriors Are A Team That Could Trade For Gary Trent Jr.

The Golden State Warriors are a team that is currently in win-now mode, and they are a team that could potentially look to add a veteran in the future. It was previously reported that they are a team that could be in the mix for Gary Trent Jr. in the future.

The Warriors also could look to move Wiseman for general depth, which is a need for a team that ranks last in the NBA in bench net rating (minus-7.2). The likes of Toronto’s Gary Trent Jr., Utah’s Malik Beasley or Memphis’ Dillon Brooks would be ideal, though the Warriors might have to give up too much (some combination of Donte DiVincenzo, Jonathan Kuminga and/or Moses Moody) to make salaries match for a deal to work.

Though Gary Trent Jr. could be a good fit at Golden State, the team is definitely exploring other options as well. It was previously revealed that they could look to add size in the frontcourt as well, with Myles Turner and Jakob Poeltl being mentioned as potential options.

Hopefully, we see the Golden State Warriors make a solid move that helps them improve their depth. They can definitely compete for the championship this year with the talent on the roster, and Gary Trent Jr. could make them an even better team.
