Cowboys meet with a familiar face ahead of NFL Draft
Ezekiel Elliott. Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys had some face time with one of their former players ahead of the NFL Draft.

The Cowboys on Wednesday met with Ezekiel Elliott and his agent about a potential reunion. The two sides are said to be in talks about a potential deal.

No deal between the sides is said to be close as of Wednesday.

The Cowboys were said to have been interested in both Elliott and Dalvin Cook. But they chose to sign free agent running back Royce Freeman last week.

Dallas likely intends to draft at least one running back this year. Elliott will probably have a much better idea about his options once the draft takes place.

Elliott turns 29 in July and rushed for 642 yards and three touchdowns on 184 carries for the Patriots last season. Elliott played for the Cowboys from 2016-22 before they let him leave in free agency. Dallas handed the lead back role to Tony Pollard last season, but he departed for Tennessee in free agency.

Dallas’ running backs include Freeman, Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn.
